The blessings by godly association are blessings by divine connection. Therefore, it is imperative as Children of God that we associate with the right people by choosing our companions wisely. It is expedient that we are mindful of those who we associate with, especially those who do not share the same faith with us in Christ Jesus. When we follow the wrong set of people, it can be detrimental to us, and when we associate with the right people who impact our lives positively; rather than negatively, we are indeed blessed. 1 Corinthians 15:33, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character”.
We are blessed by God the Father because of our right association with Jesus His Son through His birth, death, burial, resurrection, ascension and glorification. Ephesians 1:3-6, “Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ”. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will, to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
The Bible tells us that when we walk with the wise, we become wise; however, if we walk with the foolish, we will inevitably become foolish. Proverbs 13:20, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm”. Those who we associate ourselves with, can either make or break us, inspire us rightly or cause us to compromise on the standards of God. Many Christians today are negatively influenced because they look to mankind and not to God for help. Many of us started our relationship with God fervently, but in the course of time, we began to wax cold in our relationship with God because we were associated with the wrong people.
